Another summer another night market season at the Queen Victoria Markets (QVM) for your Instagram and Snapcaht posts. Now in its 20th year, the offerings seem to get more hipster every time. In addition to the obligatory Sangira stalls, kebabs and potato twists this year sees very Melbourne things such as Wonderbao, bagels, lobster and prawn rolls, Bahn Mi and a lot of grilled / bbq / smoked meat offerings.
In addition to the food, there are the vendors selling their art and craft and clothing (artisan is the focus, don’t come expected dodgey knives and knock off Manchester United jerseys). Various live entertainment stages have been set up again with each week covering a different theme to make sure you don’t just hear crowd noises.
We went on a 30*C night which made sure for a crowded sweat-fest and you be prepared for that as Summer gets into full swing. A good mid-week activity however once is probably enough as its pretty costly (2 drinks, a sushi doughnut and a softshell crab bao set me back $50) and all the food on offer can effectively be found in and around the city as well.
The night market is on every Wednesday night until 11/04/2018
Ideal for:
